Semi transparent colored glass is layered vertically, so that a viewer walking past will experience the tones blending and changing as each new step changes the viewing angle. Shades of blue to purple emerge, blend, and give rise to new hues. Otsuki intentionally kept the shape of the vase simple to emphasize the gradual
