a couple of minor dings/scratches to the back
they're open backed
a couple of very minor nibbles to the girdle of the sapphire

At first I thought this was some sort of stripped back barometer, but apparently they were marketed to help travellers check that their hotel beds weren't well, damp. An issue I can quite imagine to be common in Victorian Britain, tbh. It remains paired with the original fitted leather case, and works perfectly. I'm unsure quite how scientific the 0 100 scale is, but the
